Gilbert Arenas is today, one of the best players in the NBA. He can put on dazzling scoring shows because of his ability to take over. He also holds a very competitive side to everything he does and is bent on improvement. However, this was not the same Gilbert that you all see today. When Arenas first played college ball at Arizona, he was a star but was not highly reputed. He was drafted in the second round of the draft and was destined for the bench. Sure enough, he did not receive much playing time and was frustrated. He knew that he could compete and was good enough to play at the same time.
In order to fuel his anger, he focused on the teams that passed him in the draft and the fact that he was not playing. He put in the time and effort to make enough improvements to become a starter late in his rookie year. He would play harder against the teams that had a chance to select him, even harder against those that passed him up twice. Averaging about 10 points, he seemed in decent position as a young player. It was an improvement, considering he was not playing much at all. The following year, he averaged about 18 points and then 20 something points his third year. Between these time periods, he won the award for most improved player, showing the lust he carried after sitting out. The award shows great change, something that Arenas deserved. He has his jersey as zero to show the amount of attention he was getting at the time.
Now playing for the Washington Wizards, Gilbert has come to his own, averaging more than 25 points, in the process putting 40 point performances. He has also put on some scoring clinics and has a good overall game. He is unafraid to take a shot and is very passionate about the game. Sometimes he tries to bring other things into the game but shows that he is creative. He once bet a fan money on a game and also tries to get into other’s heads. He is a fan favorite and is also a good person. He has helped out a young kid, who is left out as an orphan. Having no one to go to, Glibert has taken him under his wing. Gilbert seemed headed for greatness and will be better in the future.
